Prepare for Your Meeting
Before you go to your meeting, review your documents one more time.
Check for typos and miscalculations.
If possible, have a business colleague, accountant, or friend review the documents in detail.
Make three copies of your documents and have them bound.
If you provide these at your first meeting, you will impress your lender and help speed the process for approval.
In addition, make sure you have copies of all personal or business credit reports for your banker to review. Remember, what the lender really wants to know is that you can repay the loan on time.
Finally, be sure to prepare a short verbal presentation that addresses the following:
Why you are there
Your background and experience
Your business objectives
Exactly what you want to borrow and what it will be used for
Business risks and how you plan to overcome them
Practice your presentation until your demeanor is calm and confident.
Decide in advance what you are going to wear.
Dress to convey that you are a confident professional business owner.
Similar to a job interview, loan applicants are selling themselves.
The night before the meeting, many people lay out what they will wear.
