Domestic
  1. Complete a Certificate of Limited Partnership* to establish and register a limited partnership in DC.

  2. Choose a registered agent—a person (often an attorney) who will serve as the point of contact between your business and DC—and complete the Written Consent to Act as Registered Agent*.

  3. Submit the completed forms to the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs at 941 North Capitol Street, NE, Washington, DC 20002.
Foreign
  1. Complete a Certificate of Authority of Foreign Limited Partnership* to register a foreign limited partnership in DC. This form will allow your limited partnership to do business in DC.

  2. Choose a registered agent—a person (often an attorney) who will serve as the point of contact between your business and DC—and complete the Written Consent to Act as Registered Agent*.

  3. Attach a Certificate of Good Standing, dated within the last 30 days, from the jurisdiction under which the limited partnership is organized.

  4. Submit the completed forms to the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs at 941 North Capitol Street, NE, Washington, DC 20002.
