Mayor Anthony Williams Introduces Certified Capital Company (CAPCO) Program May 17, 2005

Mayor Anthony Williams, Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Stan Jackson, Members of the City Council, and local business and community leaders will kick off the launch of the DC CAPCO program, which will provide $50 million in venture capital for DC-based small businesses.

The CAPCO program will help provide the critical funding that is necessary to help small businesses grow so they can hire more people, providing jobs and economic growth throughout the District. Too often, such small businesses have a difficult time securing this funding from traditional lending sources. Through the CAPCO Program, three carefully regulated DC-based venture funds will make these loans to help grow these businesses and strengthen the city's economy.
